Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian collection of decorative earthenware and porcelain figurines brings traditional English country house charm to any mantelpiece. Comprising a mix of Rockingham and Staffordshire cottages, a castle, and a small house-shaped jug, the set displays a delicate palette of white, pink, and green enamel finishes. Each piece is richly adorned with hand-painted windows, architectural facades, encrusted floral decorations, and intricate shredded clay foliage. Two of the roof chimneys are painted bright orange, and the handle of the jug is gracefully curved to resemble rustic architecture. The items show hand-painted detailing on their moulded ceramic surfaces, with natural surface wear appropriate for 19th-century decorative ceramics. Measuring approximately 48 cm across the combined grouping shown with the tape measure, these four miniature ornaments sit well together on a narrow shelf or display cabinet. They integrate smoothly into both traditional and eclectic modern living rooms, studies, or hallways. Collectors can arrange the castle, cottages, and jug side-by-side to create a cohesive decorative vignette that highlights nineteenth-century ceramic craftsmanship and design.

FAQs

Staffordshire cottages are decorative earthenware and porcelain figurines produced in 19th-century England, often serving functional roles such as pastille burners or money boxes.

These items were predominantly crafted from earthenware or soft-paste porcelain, featuring hand-applied shredded clay foliage, enamel paint, and overglaze gilded decoration.

Authentic pieces typically display unglazed bases with firing holes, slight variations from hand-painting, crazing in the glaze, and wear consistent with age rather than uniform modern reproduction marks.

Displaying a collection along a mantelpiece, floating shelf, or within a glass-fronted cabinet creates a curated accent that complements both traditional and eclectic decor.

Dust gently using a soft brush or microfibre cloth, avoiding water immersion or harsh chemicals that could damage delicate applied clay flowers or overglaze paint.
