This large antique Victorian Royal Worcester potpourri lidded pot dates from 1880 and sits on a decorative footed base. The cream porcelain body wears a blush ivory glaze, decorated with hand-painted flora in orange, purple, red and pink tones amidst green leaves and trailing vines, complemented by gold gilding details and basketweave relief mouldings. A removable pierced reticulated lid features a pointed finial and the original inner lid. The whole piece measures 27 cm high, 22 cm wide and 22 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this vessel finds a practical home on a mantelpiece or side table as a decorative display piece or lidded container. The English Country House style suits traditional living rooms, studies or entrance halls, adding colour and texture to interior schemes.

Introduced in the late nineteenth century, Royal Worcester blush ivory porcelain features a soft, matte cream ground decorated with delicate hand-painted florals and gilded accents, reflecting the periods interest in Orientalist aesthetics and nature-inspired motifs.

Antique potpourri jars were typically crafted from fine bone china or soft-paste porcelain, finished with hand-applied enamel glazes, gold leaf gilding, and pierced lids designed to allow scent to escape.

Authentic pieces feature the printed Royal Worcester factory mark on the base, often accompanied by date codes consisting of dots, letters, or numbers alongside registered design numbers and painted artist initials.

These decorative vessels can be styled as focal points on a living room mantelpiece, a hallway console table, or alongside contemporary glass and dark timber surfaces to add historical contrast.

Clean gently using a dry, soft microfibre cloth or light feather duster, avoiding water, detergent, or abrasive cloths that could wear down delicate gilding or hand-painted enamel detail.
