Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian card table is made from warm brown burr walnut with ebonised bead moulding and turned fluted pillars. The piece displays a crossbanded veneer top, scroll feet, and a turned stretcher base, set against a rich pattern of tones including dark brown, amber, cream, blue, and burgundy on the rug beneath. A rotating 90-degree top reveals a green baize interior surface, accompanied by a Gillow & Co maker's mark and serial number stamped in the apron. The item measures 90.5 cm in width, 47 cm in depth, and 75.5 cm in height. It provides a practical and decorative surface for a narrow wall space in a living room, hallway, or study in a traditional home.

Victorian furniture produced by Gillow & Co is recognised for precision cabinetmaking, high-grade veneers such as burr walnut, and refined architectural proportions combined with subtle ebonised or carved detailing.

Victorian card tables frequently utilised decorative wood veneers like burr walnut or rosewood laid over mahogany cores, often featuring turned stretchers, castors, and ebonised mouldings.

Authentic Gillow pieces are frequently stamped with GILLOW & CO or GILLOWS on drawer edges or undersides, accompanied by high-grade joinery and precise veneer matching.

An antique card table functions well placed against a hallway wall as a console table or behind a sofa, formatted with contemporary lighting or ceramic vessels to contrast the woodwork.

Burr walnut should be kept away from direct heat sources and sunlight to protect the surface; routine care involves dusting with a dry cloth and periodic waxing with natural beeswax.
