This equestrian collectible takes the form of a military riding crop and hunting whip originating from the Victorian equestrian period around 1910. The piece is constructed from dark brown leather and solid silver, presenting a heavy weighted ball handle, a leather-covered shaft, and a braided leather thong coiled alongside. Further examination reveals an engraved inscription upon the silver hallmarked collar alongside light signs of use, general wear, bruises, scratches, and a repair near the end of the thong. The solid handle measures 60 cm in length, with a total length of 200 cm. In a contemporary home, this tactile artifact finds a natural place displayed on a bookshelf or within a gentleman's library. The design integrates easily into traditional studies or heritage-inspired interior schemes where equestrian collectables contribute historical character. Collectors of military memorabilia and riding history can appreciate the engraved presentation details alongside the rich patina of the aged leather and polished metal hardware.

Hunting whips were developed primarily for field sports and military horsemanship, serving as both a riding aid and a functional tool for managing hounds or livestock. Typically featuring a leather lash and a rigid shaft, they evolved into ceremonial and presentation pieces presented to officers or prominent members of a hunt.

Traditional riding crops and hunting whips were crafted using plaited or smooth hide leather, gut, or whalebone cores for flexible strength. High-status pieces incorporated solid sterling silver, nickel, or antler bone mounts, often decorated with engine turning or bespoke inscriptions.

Authentic period pieces feature hallmarks stamped into the silver collar indicating the silversmith, purity, and year of manufacture. Additionally, hand-plaited leather showing genuine age-related patination and hand-engraved inscriptions reflect historical craftsmanship rather than modern reproduction techniques.

Equestrian accoutrements are frequently displayed as curio pieces on dark wood bookshelves, laid across an executive desk, or mounted within a shallow glazed frame on a gallery wall to enhance a traditional or rustic design scheme.

Leather should be kept away from direct heat sources to prevent cracking and treated periodically with specialist leather balm. Silver collars should be gently polished with a soft microfibre cloth, taking care to avoid harsh chemicals that could degrade adjacent leather.
