Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian style wine table dates from 1930 and is constructed from mahogany with a warm brown finish. The round dished top sits upon a central turned reeded pedestal, which is supported by a tripod base consisting of three splayed cabriole legs. The wood grain displays natural variations in tone across the smooth top surface and carved sections of the column. It measures 49.5 cm high, 28.5 cm wide, and 28.5 cm deep. In a modern interior, this side table serves as a convenient surface placed beside a sofa to hold a drink or small decorative item. The compact proportions allow it to fit comfortably into smaller spaces within a traditional living room or sitting area.

FAQs

Originating in 18th-century Britain, wine tables are small occasional tables designed to sit alongside armchairs to hold glasses, decanters, or candles.

Most classic wine tables were crafted from solid mahogany, walnut, or oak, featuring a hand-turned central pedestal supported by a three-legged tripod base.

Authentic pieces usually display hand-turned details, dovetail joints or hand-cut screws under the top, slight wood shrinkage on circular tops, and natural oxidisation on the underside.

Position the table beside a modern sofa or armchair to act as a compact drinks rest, or place it in a reading nook to support a small lamp.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, ensuring it is kept away from direct heat sources and moisture.
