This porcelain figurine, titled The Butcher, dates from the 1900 period in a Scandinavian decorative style. The piece is rendered in glazed ceramic with white and grey colouring, complemented by a brown trough, black shoes and bowler hat, and a grey tie. The male figure wears a double-breasted coat and apron, holding a brown butcher's trough with two legs standing on a grey circular base. Underglaze painting completes the occupational attire and glossy finish. Measuring 19 mm in height, the figurine works well placed on a bookshelf in a gentleman's library. Homeowners display the porcelain item on shelving units or cabinet tops to add a touch of occupational heritage to interior decor.

Royal Copenhagen began producing porcelain figurines in the late nineteenth century, gaining international recognition for their underglaze painting technique and detailed depictions of everyday trades, folklore, and wildlife.

Porcelain figurines are created by casting liquid clay slip into plaster moulds, assembling individual components, firing at high temperatures, and applying underglaze paints before a final clear glaze firing.

Authentic pieces feature the factory mark of three wavy blue lines representing Denmarks waterways, along with a crown stamp, painter initials, and specific model numbers painted or impressed into the base.

Porcelain statuettes can be displayed as standalone accents on bookshelves, curated inside glazed cabinets, or paired with complementary ceramic pieces on a sideboard or mantelpiece.

Dust porcelain figurines regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or brush, and clean occasionally using lukewarm water and mild detergent while avoiding abrasive cleaning tools.
