This Edwardian Sheraton style quartetto nest of tables comprises four graduated pieces constructed from golden brown satinwood, rosewood, and mahogany with ebony and boxwood banding. Each table exhibits a serpentine top featuring a central inlaid foliate design within an oval panel, surrounded by quarter-veneered satinwood, floral marquetry inlays, swag and ribbon decoration, tulipwood banding, and ebonised moulding. The slender tapered legs display inlaid harebell decoration with ebony stringing to each corner, connected by cross stretchers and terminating in spade feet. The largest table measures 73.8 cm high, 51.5 cm wide, and 37 cm deep, with the smaller three tables scaling down progressively. In a contemporary home, this versatile set works practically as an end-of-a-sofa arrangement, allowing the individual tables to be separated around a living room to hold drinks, books, or lamps when entertaining, and nested compactly together when floor space is required. The stable construction ensures everyday utility alongside the traditional English country house aesthetic.

Quartetto tables are a set of four graduated nesting tables engineered to store neatly beneath one another when not in use. Popularised in the late eighteenth century, they offer flexible surface area while conserving floor space.

Edwardian Sheraton style furniture frequently utilised dense hardwoods such as satinwood, mahogany, and rosewood. Craftsmen applied intricate veneers, marquetry inlays, and stringing using contrasting timber to highlight geometric and floral forms.

Authentic Edwardian Sheraton Revival pieces typically display fine marquetry, delicate tapered legs, and slender cross-stretchers. Look for hand-cut joints, traditional hide glue construction, and natural age-related patination on unexposed underside surfaces.

A nest of tables can be arranged together beside seating or separated across a room to serve guests. Their lightweight frame and decorative inlaid tops allow them to function as both practical beverage surfaces and decorative visual accents.

Keep satinwood furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading of the delicate veneers. Clean surfaces using a soft dry cloth, and apply a light coat of natural beeswax polish annually to protect the finish.
