These Regency-period fire bellows date from circa 1830 and function as fireplace accessories. The pair features a wooden construction with a warm amber tone, soft tan leather sides, and a polished brass nozzle at the tip. The top panel displays an oval hand-painted landscape scene framed by delicate dark linework, while the upper handle carries small floral motifs in orange and green pigments. Rows of round brass studs secure the leather folds along the curved perimeter, and a turned metal sleeve sits where the wooden body meets the spout. A small handle extends from the rear wooden paddle to allow compression during use. Measuring 37 cm in length, 16.5 cm in width, and 4 cm in depth, these decorative bellows suit placement on a hearth beside an open fireplace in a living room or study.

Hand-painted bellows were functional fireplace tools used to force air into embers to rekindle fires, while also serving as decorative hearth ornaments during the Regency era.

Traditional nineteenth-century bellows were constructed using carved or painted hardwoods, flexible animal leather sides secured with brass studs, and a cast brass nozzle.

Authentic Regency bellows feature period-appropriate painted motifs such as landscapes or florals, natural oxidisation on the brass nozzle, hand-driven brass studs, and age-consistent wear on the leather hinges.

Antique bellows can be displayed on a fireplace hearth, hung alongside companion fire irons, or mounted on a chimney breast wall as a decorative folk art display.

Keep the item away from direct hearth heat when not in use, clean the painted timber gently with a dry soft cloth, and treat the leather carefully with specialized leather conditioner to prevent drying.
