Victorian Mahogany Writing Table

Description

A good quality Victorian mahogany writing desk dating from the late 19th century. It has two drawers, each with their original turned knobs and it stands on turned chamfered legs terminating in the original ceramic castors. The top has an inset green leather writing surface with gilt tooled edging. It is very nicely finished on all sides so would suit facing out into a room as well as being against a wall.

The desk is in very good condition and displays beautifully. It is generally clean and tidy throughout and the writing surface is in good order. The drawers open smoothly and the desk moves well on its castors. There are some signs of age and use, some light wear to the leather, some minor knocks and marks and a small chip to the back of one knob but no major damages or anything detrimental. It has a lovely rich colour and has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
