This Victorian industrial single cheese press combines patinated green cast iron and forged steel components. The heavy-duty structure comprises a central threaded screw mechanism operated by a wheel handle turnbuckle, a weighted lever arm connected by a chain to a circular counterweight, and a 50 cm diameter truckle plate resting above a round base supported by curved tripod legs. Signs of age include weathered surfaces on the patinated green and dark grey metal finish. The freestanding agricultural machinery measures 190 cm high, 92 cm wide, and 60 cm deep. Originally used on small dairy farms for local market cheese production, this piece suits deployment in modern domestic interiors as a decorative statement item or architectural sculpture. It fits comfortably within industrial loft settings, country kitchens, or commercial hospitality spaces as a functional workspace accessory or display plinth.

A Victorian cheese press was an essential piece of dairy machinery used in farmhouses to squeeze remaining whey from curds during the cheese-making process.

These presses were typically constructed from heavy cast iron and forged steel, incorporating a threaded central screw mechanism, lever arm, pulley, and counterweights to apply steady pressure over time.

Authentic pieces exhibit heavy cast iron frame construction, foundry marks or maker stamps, original threaded steel screws, and natural surface wear or oxidisation on original painted finishes.

An antique cheese press serves as a striking sculptural statement piece in an entrance hall, conservatory, or garden setting, adding industrial texture and historic character to modern or rustic spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry soft brush and wipe surfaces with a damp cloth; to prevent rust, apply a light coat of microcrystalline wax or mineral oil to exposed metal components.
