Stunning Antique Royal Crown Derby Deep Lobed Serving Dish Witches Imari Patt. 6299

A very fine and unusual Royal Crown Derby quatrefoil shaped serving dish with deep sides and scroll moulded detail to the walls and ornate shaped rim. Richly decorated in a classic imari inspired pattern known as the Witches pattern, used to striking effect on this particular shape. The walls are decorated with a large version of a frieze that is usually much more diminutive in terms of scale and placement within the design. Panels of underglaze mazarine blue, intersected with white and gilt lines, are decorated with alternating reserved designs of flowers and diamonds in red enamel and gilt. A gilt castellated band runs at the base and the centre is divinded into eight alternating panels of rich underglaze blue reserving white and iron red flowers on a scrolling gilt vine, and an exotic flowering plant painted on the white ground in red and green enamel, gilt and underglaze blue. A small ocal reserve in the centre has a small floral device. Factory mark with date cipher for 1919 and hand painted pattern number 6299, nodel number 899 and decorator's mark.

It measures 22cm (8 11/16") long by 17.2cm (6 3/4") wide and 3.7cm (1 1/2") high.

In excellent condition with no damage or repair and minimal handling wear. An attractive and very useful dish for a variety of purposes.
