Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Gustavian style originated in Sweden during the late 18th century, inspired by French Neoclassicism following King Gustav IIIs visits to Versailles. It is characterised by pale painted finishes, fluted legs, symmetrical carvings, and restraint compared to ornate Rococo designs.

These tables were typically constructed from native softwoods like pine or hardwoods like birch, covered in light pastel or chalky white paint finishes. Tops often featured local grey marble or carved timber tops, supported by carved aprons and tapered fluted legs.

Authentic period pieces feature historical joinery such as pegged mortise and tenon joints, layered hand-painted patination displaying natural age wear, and hand-carved decorative motifs like scrollwork, fluting, and central urn finials on stretchers.

Position the table beside an armchair or sofa to hold a table lamp, or place it in an entryway to anchor a focal point. Its soft, neutral painted tones complement both traditional country house aesthetics and minimalist contemporary spaces.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or excess water that could lift delicate painted surfaces. Apply clear natural beeswax sparingly to exposed timber elements to maintain hydration and protect the finish.
