Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, dating from 1830 to 1837, marks the transition between Regency elegance and early Victorian substantiality. It is characterised by bold classical proportions, robust turnings, heavy carving, fluting, and extensive use of dark flame mahogany.

Tables from this period were predominantly crafted using solid mahogany and mahogany veneers over pine or oak frames. Construction involved hand-cut dovetail joints, carved solid timber mouldings, hand-sawn architectural elements, and silvered glass mirror panels.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved details such as rosettes and scrolled capitals, original hand-cut joinery on back panels and frames, natural wood shrinkage on unexposed surfaces, and characteristic heavy architectural plinth bases.

A pair of console tables can be arranged symmetrically in a hall or entryway to frame a doorway or alcove. Modern table lamps, ceramics, or sculpture placed on the top surface contrast with the dark timber while taking advantage of the light reflected by the mirrored back.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or splitting, and apply high-grade beeswax polish periodically along the grain. Mirror panels should be cleaned with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding liquid spray cleaners near the timber edges.
