Artsonline has dated these Japanese Porcelain Lidded Jars to the 19th Century.
Brief Description:

Dating to the latter part of the 19th century, the highly decorative pair are of particularly attractive form, with gently rounded bodies moulded throughout with an unusual spiral-fluted design.
Each jar is surmounted by its original domed, similarly fluted cover, finished with a moulded knop handle.

The porcelain has been beautifully decorated in a rich Japanese palette, with sprays of chrysanthemums, maple leaves and assorted flowering foliage, picked out in shades of iron-red, cobalt blue, green, pink, yellow and brown, together with gilt highlights.

Particularly attractive is the way in which the decoration continues around the circumference of both vessels and across their corresponding lids, meaning that they display beautifully from virtually every angle.

Although forming a matching pair, there are subtle differences to the hand-painted decoration of each jar, giving them the individual character one would hope to find in genuine antique Japanese porcelain.

The bodies themselves have a pleasing ivory-white ground, with the moulded spiral ribbing catching the light particularly well and adding considerable texture to the pieces.
Standing approximately 17.2 cm in height including their covers, they are a wonderfully usable decorative size and would look superb displayed together upon a mantelpiece, sideboard, console table or within a collection of Japanese and Asian works of art.
