This Art Deco novelty cocktail stick set is a barware piece in the style of the 1930s, made in France. The design depicts a stylised comical golfer man in full golfing attire, featuring a silver-coloured chrome-plated metal figure with a green enamel cap and top, mounted on a rectangular brown Macassar wood plinth base. The set includes six chrome cocktail sticks topped with green spherical picks. Visual details include the golfer figure's running pose, distinct facial profile, and a caddy bag holding the picks. The piece measures 10 cm high, 10.5 cm wide, and 5 cm deep. It functions as a decorative barware accessory suited for placement on a sideboard top, cocktail cabinet, or bar cart.

FAQs

French Art Deco barware from the 1930s is characterised by streamlined geometric silhouettes, polished metallic surfaces, and playful figurative motifs. Reflecting the cocktail culture of the interwar period, these accessories combined functional design with modernist aesthetics.

Novelty cocktail accessories from this era frequently featured chrome-plated or silvered metals, combined with colourful enamelling, early plastics like Bakelite, or wooden bases. These lightweight materials allowed for detailed casting and vibrant decorative accents.

Authentic pieces often exhibit precise metal casting, characteristic 1920s-1930s typography or maker stamps, and natural age-related patina on metallic or wooden elements. The weight, construction methods, and period-appropriate stylisation of figures also distinguish original items from modern reproductions.

Display the item on a tray on a sideboard, bar cart, or drinks cabinet to create a focused decorative accent. Pairing metallic bar accessories with glassware and dark painted backgrounds accentuates their reflective finishes and period character.

Dust gently with a soft dry cloth and avoid abrasive polishes that could wear down plated metal or painted enamel layers. Ensure components remain dry to prevent oxidisation or damage to wooden or felt bases.
