Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A tazza is a wide, shallow dish elevated on a stem and base, historically used for serving fruit or sweets, or presented as a decorative centrepiece. Originating in classical antiquity, the form saw major revivals during the Renaissance and nineteenth century across European decorative art traditions.

Nineteenth-century decorative tazzas were frequently crafted using gilt bronze (ormolu), patinated bronze, and carved marble or porphyry. Fabrication techniques combined lost-wax casting for figurative supports with fire-gilding for polished metallic highlights and stone cutting for sturdy bases.

Authentic period pieces exhibit crisp chasing work on cast elements, natural surface wear to gilding on raised edges, and hand-threaded iron or brass fittings beneath the base. Marble bases typically show hand-finished undersides and age-consistent oxidation on associated metal mounts.

Antique tazzas are frequently displayed in pairs on mantelpieces, sideboards, or console tables to create symmetrical balance. They can remain unadorned as sculptural art objects or be integrated into layered tabletop vignettes alongside books and ceramics.

Dust gilt bronze and marble surfaces gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or natural bristle brush. Avoid chemical cleaners, metal polish, and harsh solvents, as these strip fragile fire-gilded layers and dull polished marble finishes.
