Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Kashmiri fire bellows is a traditional fireplace accessory styled in a maximalist wonderland design. Constructed from wood, leather, lacquer, and brass, it has a golden brown colour palette with hand-painted floral lacquered motifs covering its surfaces. The object displays a heart-shaped chamber, a long slender handle, and a brass nozzle tip. Visible details include wear to the leather and painted decorative patterns across the handle and body. Measuring 95 cm high, 25 cm wide, and 5 cm deep, it is sized for practical use beside a fireplace hearth. This piece works well in a living space as a functional fireside tool or decorative accessory adjacent to a hearth.

FAQs

Kashmiri lacquered crafts feature intricate floral motifs and papier-mache surface finishes influenced by Persian artistic traditions, traditionally applied to functional wooden household items.

Traditional fire bellows consist of wooden faceplates joined by flexible leather side gussets, fitted with a brass or iron metal nozzle for directing airflow.

Authentic items display hand-painted brushwork with slight natural irregularities, subtle age-related craquelure within the varnish layer, and traditional metal fittings.

Place decorative bellows directly on a fireplace hearth, rest them alongside companion fireplace tools, or mount them as decorative wall accents.

Dust the lacquered wooden surfaces gently using a dry microfibre cloth and apply leather conditioner sparingly to the side bellows to maintain flexibility without disturbing the paintwork.
