Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian farmhouse kitchen tables typically feature solid timber tops, often constructed from pine or oak, supported by turned wooden legs such as elm or beech. Produced during the early 20th century, these tables prioritised practical household utility, combining simple construction with understated turned leg details.

Traditional farmhouse tables were constructed using locally sourced softwoods and hardwoods, most commonly pine, elm, oak, and beech. Frames and aprons were assembled using mortise and tenon joints, while table tops consisted of thick timber planks joined along the length.

Authentic period tables exhibit natural signs of age, including historic wear patterns, minor timber shrinkage across the planks, and a mellowed timber patina. Construction hallmarks include traditional joinery techniques, pegging on the apron joints, and period-appropriate hand-turned legs.

A pine farmhouse table can be integrated into contemporary dining spaces by pairing it with minimalist modern chairs, modern metal seating, or upholstered armchairs. Surrounding the natural timber with neutral wall shades and minimalist lighting helps balance the warmth of the wood.

Preserve the finish by applying a quality natural beeswax polish several times a year along the grain. Clean daily using a soft, slightly damp cloth, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners, and protect the wood surface from direct heat and liquid spills with trivets and coasters.
