Walton House Antiques has dated this Regency Inlaid Patience Table to the 19th Century.
Generally it can be identified through a variety of different features including but not limited to the use of fabulously attractive olive wood veneers and the inlay of a Maltese cross or sometimes a similar star in the table top. Very often the secondary material and craftsmanship will also be of significantly inferior quality to what you would find on a similar piece made in one of the grander European cities of the time simply due to the availability and the skill of the local cabinet makers. We are almost certain that this pretty little table is Maltese in origin and dates to the early 19th century it is fabulously useful little size and incredibly elegant perhaps down to the simplicity of the design.
