Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 18th-century Georgian oak delft plate rack displays a rich dark brown timber finish and remains in original untouched condition without any restoration. The traditional rustic farmhouse piece incorporates a moulded top cornice above a row of hanging iron cup hooks, vertical backboard planks, and three horizontal display shelves featuring plate-retaining grooves. Measuring 179 cm wide, 110 cm high, and 17 cm deep, the unit provides generous wall-mounted storage for displaying kitchen ceramics and tableware. Such a functional wall rack suits a traditional country kitchen, dining room, or pantry, where it organizes and exhibits everyday dishware. The sturdy oak construction and authentic period hardware offer both practical utility and historical character for modern rural or eclectic interiors.

FAQs

A delft rack is an open wooden shelving unit designed during the Georgian period specifically to display delftware, pewter, and earthenware plates above a dresser base or mounted directly onto a wall.

Antique plate racks were predominantly constructed from regional hardwoods such as English oak, featuring hand-planed backboards, moulded cornices, hand-wrought iron or brass hooks, and pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery.

Authentic 18th-century pieces display signs of historical tool marks such as pit-saw or adze impressions on the rear boards, hand-forged iron fixings, natural timber shrinkage across wide joints, and age-consistent patination.

Mount the oak rack above a kitchen unit or sideboard to present contemporary ceramics, framed artwork, or vintage copperware, creating a focal point that blends historical craftsmanship with modern decor.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the timber finish and prevent drying, avoiding water-based or abrasive chemical cleansers.
