We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Hoshiarpur furniture refers to Anglo-Indian decorative woodwork produced in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The style is characterised by dense ivory, bone, or brass inlay set into dark hardwoods like rosewood or teak, combining traditional Indian floral patterns with Western furniture silhouettes.

These tables are primarily constructed from indigenous hardwoods such as rosewood, teak, or shisham wood. The decorative surface patterns are crafted using hand-carved bone, ivory, or mother-of-pearl tesserae hammered into pre-chiseled grooves.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut, slightly irregular bone tesserae with subtle colour variations, rather than modern resin or plastic uniform inlays. The underside of the woodwork typically displays hand-saw marks, traditional joinery, and natural age-related oxidisation.

An inlaid pedestal table serves as an ideal accent piece next to an armchair or within an empty nook. Its dark timber and graphic inlay contrast well against neutral walls, textured linen upholstery, or modern minimalist furnishings.

Clean the surface gently with a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that can loosen the animal glue holding the inlay. Maintain stable humidity levels indoors to prevent the timber from warping or throwing off embedded pieces.
