Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Edwardian era, silver-mounted leather goods represented refined luxury personal items for gentlemen. Craftsmen combined durable exotic hides with sterling silver fittings, which were stamped with official British assay hallmarks to verify purity and origin.

Traditional cigar cases were constructed from exotic leathers such as crocodile, alligator, or pigskin, alongside metals like sterling silver, nickel, or tortoise shell. Inner linings were frequently fitted with kidskin leather or silk to protect the cigars.

Authentic British pieces feature stamped hallmarks on the silver band or frame. These include the lion passant for sterling purity, a city assay mark such as the leopard head for London, a date letter, and a makers mark.

Small antique leather accessories can be styled as decorative accents on a library bookshelf, an office desk, or a valet tray atop a sideboard. They add tactile texture and historical context when paired with framed art or brass desk accoutrements.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and dampness. Treat the leather periodically with a specialist leather conditioner, taking care not to allow chemical creams to contact the silver fittings, which should be polished gently with a dry microfiber cloth.
