A Regency giltwood console table in the manner of Thomas Hope and in the Retour d’Egypte style, the rectangular Carrara marble top with plain edge over a frieze with plain moulded border, with carved and applied paterae at either end each over a monopod of neo-Egyptian design with a panther’s face over a body with stylised anthemions and raised on a naturalistic single carved paw, supported by a black block, and with plain gilt supports to the back. English circa 1805.
Condition: Overall very good, the table is in very good condition with no damage or repairs, it stands well with no undue wobbling, the gilding is in very good condition and appears to be original with a little wear consistent with age. The marble, which is also the original, is in very good condition.
