A charming and highly unusual scratch built wooden model depicting a late 18th-century Paris chaise carriage, complete with a hand-carved horse and female driver. This delightful piece of folk art bears its original paper label, inscribed ''PARIS CHAISE M GILL 1928'', adding both authenticity and historical interest.

Expertly crafted with remarkable patience and skill, the model is constructed predominantly from wood and showcases exceptional attention to detail. The elegant yellow Paris chaise features a striking red sun canopy and is drawn by a finely carved wooden horse, complete with leather bridle and harness. Seated within the carriage is a beautifully hand carved female driver, bringing the scene vividly to life.

Both the carriage and figures are hand painted in vibrant polychrome colours, enhancing the model''s character and decorative appeal. The entire composition is securely mounted on a moulded wooden display base, finished in a deep hand painted green. The underside ...is lined with red velvet to help protect polished furniture surfaces.
