This Victorian child's miniature tea service dates from the nineteenth century and originates from the Copeland pottery, formerly Spode. The earthenware service comprises a teapot with a faceted body and scrolled handle, a sugar bowl with a cover and finial, a milk jug, a slop bowl, six cups with saucers, and two cake plates. Each piece displays a white ground decorated with a rich cobalt blue flow blue transfer-printed floral pattern and a glossy glaze. The set is of miniature proportions suitable for display on a sideboard top in an English country house interior, with the entire arrangement occupying a compact surface area of roughly 50 cm across. Cobalt blue decoration extends across every individual item, including the rims of the saucers and plates, the handles of the cups, and the moulded details of the lids and spouts.
