Share Sunderland Pink Lustre Bowl Maritime

Description

This is an early 19th century Sunderland pink lustre bowl in really great condition with colourful hand painted masted ship and maritime verse.

The bowl is likely from Scott's Southwick pottery or the Dawson factory in Low Ford where these were manufactured. This has lovely bold colours to the hand painted decoration and typical pink lustre swirling design. It is in excellent condition for its age with only one tiny historic rim chip as shown.

The verse reads

"Here's to the wind that blows and ship that goes, and the boy that fears no danger. A ship in full sail and a fine pleasant gale, and the girl that loves a sailor."

A really charming bowl circa 1800.

The bowl measures 10 cms high and is 22cms in diameter.
