FAQs

A tavern mug, historically used in public houses and inns, is a large drinkware vessel typically crafted from durable earthenware, pewter, or stoneware designed for serving ale, cider, or beer.

Tavern mugs were predominantly manufactured using dense glazed earthenware, salt-glazed stoneware, or pewter to endure frequent commercial use in public establishments.

Authentic period ceramic pieces often exhibit signs of hand-glazing, subtle glaze irregularities, crazing under close inspection, and traditional capacity marks or maker stamps near the rim or base.

Display a ceramic tavern mug on exposed kitchen shelving, a rustic dresser, or use it as an understated vase or utensil holder on a countertop.

Wash glazed ceramic items gently by hand using mild soapy water and warm water, avoiding harsh abrasive scrubbers and dishwashers that can damage aged glazes.
