Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Issued in 1897 to celebrate the sixty-year reign of Queen Victoria, these official state medals commemorated the longest reign in British history up to that time. Produced by the Royal Mint and private medallic artists, they were distributed across the British Empire as souvenirs of national celebration.

Official commemorative medals of this era were struck in gold, silver, and bronze using high-pressure coining presses to produce high-relief detail. The finished bronze pieces often received a chemical toning treatment or protective lacquer, and were presented in leatherette or velvet-lined boxes.

Authentic examples display crisp die-engraved relief, exact period typography, and correct weight measurements corresponding to official Royal Mint specifications. Original pieces frequently retain their original fitted leather or card presentation cases with silk lids and velvet base inserts.

Medallions and small coins are traditionally styled within glazed curio cabinets, laid flat on desk surfaces, or mounted inside custom box frames with UV-protective glass. Displaying them alongside historical literature or antique brass scientific instruments creates a curated collector aesthetic.

Historical medals should not be cleaned with abrasive metal polishes, as these strip away original patination and reduce historical value. Dust gently with a soft horsehair brush, handle strictly by the edges while wearing cotton gloves, and store in low-humidity environments inside acid-free containers.
