Naive Early 18th Century Carved Figure Of A Toy Horse

£750    $1,005    €879
A wonderful naive/primitive carved pitch pine figure of a horse, French circa early 1700’s. The base and wheels added some time in the 19th Century.

It would probably look even more stunning, for the purists, if the base was taken off and the horse displayed as a beautiful antique sculpture on its own, but we decided to leave this difficult decision to the buyer!

The horse shows historic repairs etc, but thankfully no past or present woodworm infestation. There are remains of the lower part of the ears which are in very thick leather.

The horse shows great presence, its naive shape and primitive construction are totally charming…

It stands some 83cm tall and it’s full length is 85cm.
