Pair of Art Deco Mirrored Side Tables C1930s

1920 - 1940
For Sale by Billy Hunt & Co.
Description

We have a matching pair of rather handsome Art Deco peach/copper coloured mirrored side tables of good scale on walnut bases C1930s. Loving the design and size of these, reassuringly heavy and always pleasing to find a pair.

Condition is good, both tables are sitting firm with historic markings and wear. The frames are strong and repair free, no wobbles. We have age foxing to some areas of the original coloured glass and the odd internal chip mark but nothing nasty or particularly off putting but please remember these are not new. We have ensured that both tables are ready to place.

So many spaces in the home for this attractive pair.

Price is for the pair delivered not each.

A jolly attractive pair of Art Deco period side tables C1930s.

Why Sellingantiques dated this piece to THE 1930s:
Peach-tinted mirrored glass: a popular decorative choice of the 1930s.
Natural dark spots and edge desilvering: normal oxidisation of early mirror plate.
Stepped and fluted geometric pedestals: typical streamline design.
Dark timber plinths show softened corners from handling and cleaning.

This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.

Billy Hunt and Co is located on a large Victorian farm just a short country drive from the Rangemore village, a designated conservation area, which was built by Michael Thomas Bass in the 1850s to house the Bass Rangemore Estate workers consisting mainly of Victorian redbrick cottages and the occasional barn.

Our home is a classic Victorian designed and well equipped late 19th century 2 story red brick built barn of some 4000 sq feet nestled in classic English countryside, which enjoyed a careful full renovation in 2000. The estate still benefits being managed in the traditional manner with an Estate Manger, estate carpenter, gardeners etc. A rather delightful place to have as our work space.

Martina, there is no Billy at Billy hunt, has led the team since 2103 and is an interior designer qualified from The Inchbald School of Design London whose previous working life included such clients as Vertu, Aston Martin and Johnnie Walker to name a few.

Please do not hesitate to call or email if you have any questions on the pieces that may interest you - Many thanks Martina

This pair of side tables originates from the 1930s Art Deco period, constructed from peach mirror glass and wood with a peach and copper coloured finish. Each table stands on a stepped plinth base supporting an inverted pyramid pedestal, topped with a square surface framed by a segmented mirrored apron and featuring historic markings, wear, and age foxing to the original glass. Measuring 50 cm by 50 cm by 50 cm, these matching tables are reassuringly heavy with strong, repair free walnut bases and sit firmly on the floor. Today, these versatile pieces suit placement at the end of a sofa or in various living spaces as functional accent tables. They bring period glamour to a room through their tinted mirror surfaces and geometric pedestal design. The strong frames ensure everyday utility while retaining their authentic vintage character and antique charm for modern interiors.

Art Deco mirrored furniture from the 1930s is characterised by geometric forms, bold angular silhouettes, and the integration of tinted or clear mirrored glass panels over wooden frameworks to reflect light and create optical depth.

These pieces were constructed using silvered float glass, frequently featuring peach, bronze, or clear tinted glass panels mounted to structural timber frames with specialized adhesives.

Authentic 1930s mirrored tables often display light desilverisation or foxing along the glass edges, layered wooden joinery underneath, cut bevels rather than modern machine-polished edges, and period-correct fixings.

Mirrored side tables work effectively in modern interiors framing a sofa or flanking a bed as nightstands, where their reflective surfaces maximise light and introduce geometric structure.

Clean the mirrored surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water or a mild alcohol solution, avoiding ammonia-based cleaners that can seep behind edges and degrade the mirror backing.
