As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this most captivating Late Meiji (1868-1912) early Taisho period (1912-1926 ),globular stoneware vessel stemming from the highly regarded Imperial studios of Miyagawa Makuzu Kozan 1840-1916, on this occasion likely to have been potted by Kozan II (1859-1940). The globular vessel has a green glazed interior for use as a flower vessel containing water, the exterior is simply decorated with a pair of Manchurian cranes upon the branch of a large pine tree within a landscape setting, the vibrant enamels heavily potted and fired to a fabulous contrast against the plain stoneware ground, the rim folded and crimped for further effect.
