A very stylish Victorian Gilt Metal / Gold toned Triple Oval photo picture Frame, made by John Joseph MECHI Regents Street, London, c1850.
The 3 Oval frames fold into each other and close nicely as seen in the photos. Very ornate design. Very Victorian.
All three are glazed. To insert photos you have to gently pull the inside front part of each frame out, revealing the glass and space for photos or pictures.
They fit very tightly so it’s a delicate job.
Stamped to the easel back with MECHI REGENT ST.
John Joseph MECHI had his original store in Leadenhall Street in London, later moving to 112 Regents Street, London.
Both stores specialised in luxury & giftable items.
Measuring 17 cm x 20 cm overall. The frames measure 10 cm x 7 cm with an aperture of approx 8.5 cm x 5.5 cm. Very heavy 527 grams.
In very good condition for its age and use, all glass in tact, still bright in colour. Shuts well, the first frame to the left needs to be pushed down a tiny bit to c
...lose securely. A few dings and marks, scratches, the glass could do with a clean.
