Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Neoclassical marble cistern is a stone water basin or planter dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, designed with symmetrical lines and classical mouldings inspired by ancient Greek and Roman forms.

These cisterns were carved from solid blocks of natural metamorphic stone, primarily Italian Carrara marble, chosen for its density, fine grain, and ability to withstand outdoor exposure.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-chiseled tooling marks, subtle structural asymmetry, classical moulding profiles, and organic weathering or lichen growth consistent with long-term exposure.

In an outdoor landscape, it functions as a central focal point filled with low topiary or trailing flora. Within a conservatory or entrance hall, it can serve as a decorative architectural feature.

Marble should be cleaned gently using pH-neutral soap and water, avoiding acidic compounds or high-pressure washers that erode the stone and strip away historical surface patina.
