Here we have a lovely example of an Oak cased lock stamped for John Shaw & Sons and dating to the mid 19th Century.
This particular type of lot was invented around 1849 and known as Jones''s drunkards lock by reason of the key being operated right or wrong side up - shooting two bolts, with one original key and three screws
Provenance: From the mill in Mill Street, Padiham and was occupied by James Hargreaves who was respectfully known as ''Nobby''
