Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Qing Dynasty carved wooden panels were created as architectural elements, window grilles, or furniture inserts in China during the late nineteenth century. They typically feature intricate openwork piercing and symbolic carvings representing longevity, prosperity, or natural motifs.

These panels were carved from native timbers such as elm, camphor, or pine, then finished with layers of coloured lacquer, red paint, and gold leaf gilding. Traditional joinery techniques like mortise and tenon were used rather than metal fasteners.

Original nineteenth-century examples display hand-carved irregularities, natural timber shrinkage along the grain, and layered wear to the lacquer or gilding. The reverse side usually shows hand-saw and chisel marks rather than modern machine cuts.

Panels can be mounted as a grid on a feature wall, hung individually as art, or positioned above a console table to add texture and historical contrast to contemporary decor schemes.

Dust carved surfaces gently using a soft, dry artist brush or microfibre cloth, avoiding water and liquid solvents that could lift delicate lacquer or gilding. Keep the timber in a climate-controlled room away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
