Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian style furniture encompasses design trends from 1714 to 1830, characterised by classical proportions, intricate carving, and the extensive use of dark hardwoods such as mahogany. Influences evolved from early Baroque elements to ornate Rococo, Chippendale, and neoclassical forms.

Pieces from this era typically utilise solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over oak or pine carcass wood. Traditional joinery relies on hand-cut dovetails, mortise and tenon joints, and hand-carved decorative motifs along the aprons and knees.

Authentic period woodwork displays signs of age such as hand-tooling marks, slight irregularities in symmetry, natural shrinkage along timber grain, and uneven patination. Cast brass hardware and original secondary timber cut lines also indicate age.

A centre table serves as a focal point in a grand hallway, foyer, or large living area. Pair it with a contemporary ceramic vase, a stack of art books, or position it beneath a central pendant light to balance historic craftsmanship with modern aesthetic accents.

Dust mahogany regular with a soft, lint-free cloth along the grain. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the timber patination, avoiding silicone-based sprays and direct placement near heat sources or sunlight.
