This nineteenth-century English Regency sofa table is constructed from rosewood with brass and ebonised wood elements in a warm brown colour. The piece has a bookmatched top with drop leaves on either side, positioned above two frieze drawers fitted with small round brass knobs. Below the drawers runs a decorative gilt brass and ebonised strip moulding. The table stands on two plain vertical end supports that meet platform feet with cast and chased brass mounts, resting on small brass castors. Connecting the end supports is a central turned and ebonised wooden stretcher, detailed with turned rings. Measuring 73 cm high, 102 cm wide, and 70 cm deep, the table extends to a width of 159 cm when both leaves are raised. In a modern home, this piece fits naturally behind a sofa or within a living room, study, or hallway as a console or serving table. The drop leaves provide flexible surface space that can be adjusted depending on the room's layout or function.
