A luxurious Kyoto Satsuma bowl from the late Meiji period, decorated inside and out to a particularly fine standard. The interior shows an elegant spring landscape beneath cascading cherry blossom, with ladies and children arranged in a balanced composition. The ivory ground is finished with dense micro-dot shading, and each kimono is enriched with gilt and pastel enamels typical of the best Kyoto ateliers.The exterior offers strong contrast: a deep gosu cobalt ground almost entirely covered by two superb dragons in raised gilding, their scales and whiskers picked out with minute detail.
