Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 18th century Georgian games table uses solid mahogany timber finished in a warm brown colour. The piece takes the form of a semi-circular trifold table standing 74 cm high, 84 cm wide, and 41 cm deep. The folding top reveals a polished surface above and a baize-lined interior below, equipped with a hidden compartment for storing playing pieces. Four slender, turned gateleg supports hold up the structure, terminating in rounded pad feet. Detailing on the exterior includes a central brass keyhole escutcheon fitted into the frieze beneath the top moulding. The timber grain shows varied natural figure across the curved apron. Suitable for placement in an empty corner of a home today, the table provides a compact surface for occasional use or display when folded against a wall.

FAQs

A trifold games table is a specialized eighteenth-century furniture piece designed with multiple hinged wooden leaves that unfold to reveal different surfaces, typically accommodating card play, tea drinking, or writing.

Georgian tables were predominantly constructed from dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, featuring oak or pine as secondary drawer lining woods alongside cast brass keyhole escutcheons and wrought steel hinges.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, irregular hand-planed underside surfaces, original oak gateleg fly-rails, natural wood shrinkage on the rounded top, and authentic dark oxidisation around iron hardware.

Positioned against a wall when folded, it functions as a compact console table suited for displaying table lamps, ceramics, or framed artwork before unfolding for entertaining.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent shrinkage or warping, and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually along the natural grain.
