A large early twentieth-century centrepiece by the Porzellanmanufaktur Plaue (von Schierholz), dating to around 1907. The piece features a rising tree-form stem densely decorated with applied roses and foliage in the characteristic Plaue style. Two putti animate the composition and the openwork upper bowl is accented with gilt and a Dresden-style floral spray. This type of work formed part of the factory�s most elaborate production and reflects the Dresden/Rococo Revival taste of the period.Plaue�s applied flowers were crafted by specialist female modellers and surviving centrepieces retaining a high proportion of original roses are increasingly uncommon.
