FAQs

Tilt-top tables, often called breakfast or loo tables, gained immense popularity during the Victorian era for their space-saving design, allowing the top to be tipped vertically when not in use.

Cabinet makers during the Victorian period predominantly used solid mahogany, walnut, and rosewood, frequently incorporating hand-turned central pedestals and tripod legs for structural stability.

Authentic pieces typically feature period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, original brass catches for the tilting mechanism, and natural patination consistent with age and use.

An antique pedestal table provides a striking focal point in a contemporary setting when contrasted with minimalist seating or used as a standalone centrepiece in an entryway.

Maintain antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, regularly dusting with a soft cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the finish.
