Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Tassie cameo is a relief portrait medallion made from a specialised vitreous glass paste developed by Scottish gem-engraver James Tassie in the late 18th century. These pieces replicated ancient engraved gems and contemporary portraits, becoming widely popular during the Georgian era for personal collections and decorative plaques.

Georgian cameo miniatures were commonly set into brass or gilded metal oval bezels and mounted onto turned ebonised wood, fruitwood, or papier-mache rectangular plaques. Convex glass covers were typically added to protect the delicate relief from dust and wear.

Authentic period glass paste cameos display fine detail in the moulded relief with slight natural imperfections or cooling lines in the paste. Frames often feature period-correct brass fittings, hand-carved ebonised backing mounts, and signs of age-appropriate patination on metal and wood surfaces.

Small portrait miniatures are frequently displayed as part of a curated gallery wall alongside antique engravings or modern line drawings. They can also be hung in narrow architectural spaces, such as between windows, or placed on small easels inside bookshelves to add historical character.

Keep the piece in a dry room away from direct sunlight and moisture to protect the wood mount from warping. Dust the frame gently with a dry, soft-bristled brush, and clean the glass cover with a microfibre cloth without using harsh chemical liquids.
