Very 33cm Fine 19thc Imari Covered Jar
A beautifully hand-painted piece featuring the rich, vibrant colours typical of the Imari palette — deep red, blue, gold, and peach tones. Likely Japanese, though possibly Chinese, as some pieces were made in the Japanese style.
In very good antique condition with only minimal paint wear on one of the red flowers. The lid is topped with a Qilin, small chip to tail — an eastern mythical creature — holding a large peach, possibly symbolising the world.
Decorated with intricate scenes of bamboo, flowers, and foliage, this jar is a striking example of fine craftsmanship and artistry.
