Han Dynasty pottery is characterised by utilitarian yet graceful forms, often reflecting the transition from bronze prototypes to regional clay traditions, including both unglazed grey earthenware and lead-glazed wares.

These vessels were typically formed from local clays, shaped by hand or on a slow wheel, and fired in subterranean kilns to achieve their characteristic grey or black earthenware body.

Authenticity is assessed through matrix composition, firing characteristics, surface wear patterns, residual burial soil adhering to the pores, and stylistic consistency with known archaeological corpora.

Displaying the piece as a sculptural focal point on a minimalist console or within a dedicated display case allows its historical form and texture to stand out without competing clutter.

Unglazed earthenware should be kept in a stable environment away from direct sunlight and high humidity, avoiding liquid cleaners or aggressive handling that could damage the porous matrix.
