Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
An exquisite and rare pair of 19th century, Anglo Chinese or Chinese export for the U.K.

The papier mache chinoiserie tops are former pole-screens from the early 19th century and later adapted to tables.
A wonderful pair of antique tables, comprising superb beauty and an exotic variety of materials, a charming combination of skilled craftsmanship and considerable decorative appeal.

The chinoiserie tops feature the traditional themes, subjects and motifs, expertly hand-applied on papier mache with wonderfully carved hongmu hardwood bases with 3 matching cast iron, paw feet.
The tables are mostly excellent condition, the tops show evidence of more wear than the bases and the photos present an accurate representation of their condition, the chinoiserie decoration still revealing its charm and colour with inevitable but modest wear to its surface.

A very fine pair of Anglo Chinese, 19th century side or end tables of considerable decorative appeal and country house aesthetic.
