Early 19th century turned lignum vitae linen smoother or slickenstone of traditional design, made from dark heart wood.
Slickenstones or linen smoothers, more commonly found in glass, were used for smoothing, burnishing and glazing linen.
Also used by saddlers for smoothing hide.
Good colour and patination, not recently wax polished would respond well.
In excellent condition showing reasonable signs of age and use, nothing bad.
Height 5,1/2'' or 140mm, diameter 3,5/8'' or 92mm weight 317 grams.
