Antique Italian Sacred Heart Ex Voto

A rare and authentic Italian Ex-Voto from the late 19th early 20th century, depicting the Flaming Sacred Heart within an oval gilt frame behind glass.

Made of richly worked silver and gilded silver (crown and the letters PGR), this devotional object is a genuine piece of tradition of the Catholic Church.

Ex-Voto derives from the Latin phrase meaning "from a vow," and refers to a gift, donation, or offering presented by worshippers for votive purposes. It serves as an expression of gratitude toward God, the Madonna, Jesus, or a specific saint (often the one of the parish of reference) in recognition of a grace or favour received.

"PGR" means "per grazia ricevuta" which translate in "for grace received"

The beautifully aged and moulded oval frame is made of brass.
