Description

A wonderful antique mahogany military campaign nesting coffee table / side tables. These were made in England, they date from around the 1930’s.

They are of excellent quality and have a very useful design. The two smaller side tables nest under the larger coffee table when not in use, and are designed to be used separately as side tables. The brass mounts are very well made and contrast beautifully against the rich mahogany.

We have recently had these re-polished, the condition is excellent for their age. There are just a few minor marks and bumps remaining beneath the polish here and there, adding to the character.

Width – 30 inches , 76 cm

Depth – 18 inches , 46 cm

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Campaign furniture was designed for British military officers on the move during the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries, engineered for portability, modularity, and durability with folding mechanisms and protective brass fittings.

Authentic campaign pieces typically utilised dense, durable hardwoods such as mahogany, teak, or camphor wood, paired with cast brass corners, strapwork, and recessed handles to withstand harsh travel conditions.

Key indicators of authenticity include solid hardwood construction, original flush brass hardware, dovetailed joints, hand-turned elements, and appropriate patina and wear consistent with age and travel.

Campaign items bring architectural structure and warmth to modern interiors and work effectively as flexible accent pieces alongside minimalist upholstery or traditional decor to add historical depth.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by dusting with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, and periodically applying quality beeswax to nourish the wood and preserve the natural sheen.
