Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Penwork was a decorative technique popular during the Regency period from 1800 to 1830, involving fine india ink drawings executed on pale timber or ebonised grounds, depicting classical, botanical, or oriental motifs under a clear protective varnish.

These tables typically feature solid timber foundations, such as birch or pine, finished with ebonised lacquering or japanware, with fine ink detail applied by hand and sealed under coats of clear varnish.

Original pieces exhibit fine age craquelure across the protective varnish, subtle hand-drawn variations in the ink lines, and traditional joinery including hand-cut dovetails and period-correct tripod support mechanisms.

Position the table as an accent piece in a bay window or empty corner, paired with armchairs to highlight its detailed surface pattern while providing a functional spot for board games.

Dust gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth, avoiding chemical polishes, solvent cleaners, or direct sunlight, which can cause the ink to fade and the protective varnish to degrade.
