Unusual Japanese Ivory Okimono Carving of a Man Holding a Conch Shell

1900 - 1920
Description

Very decorative Japanese Ivory carving of a man sitting holding a conch shell. The piece is signed to the underside and dated from the Meiji period. It appears as though the okimono has been used as a pendant and the hole has been filled to the front and is visible to the back. This does not detract from a lovely decorative piece of Japanese history.

SIZE : 6cm high x 5cm wide
